Scientist 1 (R&D Companion Diagnostics)

CTG's premier global client located an immediate need for a Scientist I in Southeast Austin/East Congress area to join the team responsible for working on the development of a companion diagnostic assay for their IVD sequencing system based on Ion Torrent technology. The ideal candidate should have experience with Ion Torrent instruments and sequencing applications.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Candidate will work on CDx projects to develop NGS assays for clients

  • As a bench scientist, the candidate will independently perform laboratory experiments and analyze the results by applying her/his knowledge in molecular biology

  • Will need to maintain complete and thorough documentation required to meet QSR Design Control, as well as other international standards (e.g., ISO compliance, GLP/GMP requirements, etc.)

  • Needs to be self-motivated, capable of multi-tasking and able to ensure focused and timely execution of projects

  • The candidate must be skilled in basic molecular biology techniques: qPCR and multiplex PCR, DNA and RNA isolation and characterization

  • The successful candidate will be able to work as part of a team and enthusiastically help others on the team achieve their goals on time

  • May be required to perform other related duties as required and/or assigned

  • A strong work ethic to generate high quality data under tight deadlines in a fast-pace environment, collaborative and proactive attitude a must

Education and Qualifications:

  • Degree in biochemistry, microbiology, molecular biology, or related degree

  • 1 year of practical bench experience with Next Generation Sequencing technology (preferably Ion Torrent sequencing).

  • Expert in all Microsoft Office applications, particularly MS Excel

  • Practical experience running Ion Torrent Sequencing instrumentation.

  • Experience with Development of Companion Diagnostics or IVD assays in a regulated development environment

  • A background in molecular biology, biochemistry, or a related field

  • Must be skilled in basic molecular biology techniques: qPCR and multiplex PCR, DNA and RNA isolation and characterization

  • Anticipates needs and problems while creating solutions

Working Conditions:

  • Works in a laboratory environment

  • Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs

  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time while performing duties

  • Must be able to work safely with chemicals and hazardous materials

  • Must be able to work overtime and flexible shifts.


Pay Rate: Starting at $26 per hour DOE

Duration: 12 months extendable
